substance over style.

Today was a good day. A strangely, seemingly unproductive, but actually quite productive day. I went out with a few of the PGA applicants to study together, and although it feels really stupid whenever I tell someone I'm going out to study for guides, today was a pretty good study session! We just sat at starbucks for 2 hours talking about politics in singapore and the general elections, feminism, multiculturalism etc. Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was proof itself of how guiding and progress can change the world. I mean, in hardly any other context would you find a group of little girls sitting together having an intelligent discussion about the implications of change in the political environment, with every one contributing ideas on the issue and sharing their opinion on how certain..important political figures..look like turtles and orang utans. Anyway after that we watched beastly! :D and then went to subway to continue our study session.

So, beastly! It was a typically disney movie, with the guy falling for the girl, and the girl falling for the guy despite his flaws. And then in the end they kiss and everything is alright. Which is really unrealistic cos they were kissing in the middle of the road and I just kept wondering what would happen if the taxi behind them started. Yea, and like any other good disney movie, this movie has a moral! It's basically the same moral as beauty and the beast, but it's always comforting to be reminded that inner beauty surpasses all outward appearances. In my opinion though, the best part of the movie was neil patrick harris! He's just awesome.

Yup, and to end off the day nicely, my big brother had some supposedly comforting words of advice regarding stress in secondary school life.

(excerpts from our conversation)
5 3 hour exams.
makes O and A levels seem like a breaktime.
feeling better?
always remember i'm going through worse and it always gets worse from where you are.
i hope i've made you feel better, because i've made myself feel like shit.
hahaha

thank you. i think. ♥
